Cranial Osteopathy

What is Cranial Osteopathy?  Cranial osteopathy is a refined and subtle type of osteopathic treatment that encourages the natural ability to release stresses and tensions throughout the body, including the head.  Very specific, skilled, light pressure is applied where necessary.

Whilst known as cranial osteopathy it is important to realise that the techniques we use treat the whole body, not just the head – a common misunderstanding.

Cranial Osteopathy is a gentle yet extremely effective approach making it an ideal treatment for babies and young children.  It can produce excellent results in helping babies to get over the various traumas associated with birth.  It can also be used to treat a wide range of conditions in people of all ages from childhood to old age.

In adults Cranial Osteopathy may be used to relieve the common symptoms of a build up of stress and tension, such as headaches, fatigue, migraine, anxiety, sleep problems and digestive issues and will help the body to function better in all respects.

During pregnancy, Cranial Osteopathy can be helpful for dealing with the associated stresses, aches and pains, as well as the positioning of the baby, morning sickness and heartburn.   Following child birth, treatment is recommended to help the body return to the pre-pregnant state, to treat any residual trauma from the birth and to avoid possible and unnecessary complications in later pregnancies.

Over the next few weeks we will be posting more detailed information on the positive effects of Cranial Osteopathy on our website.  In the meantime should you require any further information or if you would like to book an appointment with our Cranial specialist, Clarissa McManus, please call the clinic on 01732 453956.
