Hayfever & Acupuncture

Hayfever is a common allergic condition that affects around one in every five people at some time during their lives. While it does not pose a serious threat to health it can have a very negative impact on your quality of life.

With the pollen season becoming longer due to the warmer and wetter weather, many people can control their hay fever with medication but struggle with the side-effects that are attributed to antihistamines and nasal sprays. Traditional acupuncture may be beneficial for managing hayfever and may help to treat general symptoms such as headaches, blocked sinuses, runny nose, itchy eyes, and general tiredness with minimal discomfort.

During an initial consultation a detailed case history will be taken which will determine which acupuncture points will be stimulated. As each person is treated on an individual basis points often vary, but arm and leg points will be used. The acupuncturist will often recommend a course of treatments which many people find effective for keeping their symptoms under control.
