Richard Puxty is the massage practitioner at The Springbank Clinic. He is an integrated part of the team of practitioners that combine to provide the best possible care and management for patients whether the symptoms are stress related, sports injuries or from other specific causes.

Richard studied Swedish massage obtaining a VTCT diploma.

He studied at the London School of Sports Massage, one of the premier training colleges in the country, again receiving a diploma there. He is a member of the SMA (Sports Massage Association). When choosing a sports or therapeutic practitioner select a member of The Sports Massage Association. This shows that the practitioner chosen is insured and, more importantly, trained correctly and undergoing continual professional development. Sporting Achievements
Richard competed at international / elite level in Triathalon, representing Great Britain. Recently after a break for family commitments he has been swimming and competing at Masters level. He is also starting to get involved with Triathalon again. He has great understanding of the sportsman’s mind whether at Elite level or as a beginner. He has established a cross country club at Sevenoaks Primary school over the last two years.

Sports Massage

In the 18th & 19th centuries massage became popular in Europe with Swedish Massage under the influence of Per Henrik Ling . Captain Cook recorded how massage he received in Tahiti cured his sciatic pain and massage was used extensively in World War I for shell-shock and nerve injury. It was the foundation of what is now known as Physiotherapy.
