Postnatal treatment is recommended to relieve any residual strain from the birth and help the body to return to its pre-pregnant state. Soreness due to feeding positions and holding your baby, headaches, coccyx and pelvic pains all generally respond very well to osteopathic treatment.

Pregnancy can be both an exciting and stressful time for women. While a woman is pregnant the body is going through huge changes and this can have an effect both physically and emotionally. Massage can help to reduce stress and decrease muscle tension in areas such as the lower back, neck and hips. As well as treating the common discomforts from pregnancy, massage can also increase blood and lymph flow and can have many other beneficial effects.
Osteopathy for Babies
Birth is a stressful process for both mother and baby. The baby’s body is well adapted to accommodate the stresses and forces during normal labour. However, during a difficult birth – for example with the use of ventouse or forceps – the baby may have some strains and tensions which can make them uncomfortable. They can manifest as: uncontrollable crying, feeding difficulties and generally being unsettled. Osteopathic treatment may help to resolve some of the strains that are still apparent after a difficult birth experience.
