Ruth Jones, Pilates Instructor

Ruth has been working in the health and fitness industry since 2000 when she qualified as a Gym instructor. Since then she has undertaken regular further studies and courses to qualify as a Stott Pilates instructor. To continue to be registered with Stott pilates Ruth has to attend regular workshops and courses.

Ruth has recently invested in a "Reformer". This is an exercise machine that enables the use of resistance pulleys and springs, while ensuring that the basic principles of Stott pilates are maintained. One of the main principles is to have strength in the abdomen and pelvic floor, once this is acheived other muscle groups can be worked on.

Pilates aims to increase mobility where required, as well as building strength to support this mobility. The Osteopaths in the clinic will often request that their patients see Ruth following a period of acute pain to help maintain the recovery and avoid relapses.

We are only able to offer pilates on a one to one basis, however it is essential to start pilates on this basis as it is too easy to "cheat"and avoid using the correct muscles. Once you have established the basic technique you can move on to a class.
